Men's Boot Camp - Mar 5th-7th

Fri, March 5, 2010

Join us Friday, March 5th through Sunday morning, March 7th. (See Schedule and Directions below.)

Men, what you are about to take part in may be one of the most spiritually significant experiences of your faith and life journey. Expect God to show up.

Taking you deeper.  Restoring your strength.  Giving you back your masculine heart. We want to offer a bit of guidance as you join us in prayer for this experience.  Pray:

•  For your own heart. That God would prepare it for what He has for you to receive.
   (Proverbs 4:23, Mark 4, especially vs. 8 and 20, Matthew 5:8)

•  That you would give God PERMISSION to do in your heart at the camp what He so desires for you.

•  For the supernatural protection of your family leading up to and during the boot camp.

•  For your travel to and from the camp for the boot camp.

•  For every detail that God desires at the Wild at Heart Boot Camp.

Expect opposition.

"Be self-controlled and alert.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith. "   1 Peter 5

Arguments with your wife.  Health problems.  Being inundated with demands on you at the office.  Assaults against your strength, your character, your work, your reputation.  Roadblocks coming up between you and the boot camp. Men, please know, these are ALL indications that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. The evil one does not want you to walk forward and take part in what God has for you at this boot camp.

Having said that, we urge you to join us in daily prayer, standing spiritually in agreement with us and all the men coming to take this expedition. I am reminded of the words of Maximus in The Gladiator when he and his fellow gladiators were thrown into the Roman Coliseum, waiting for what they feared would be their destruction. Maximus said to his fellow brothers in this battle,

"Whatever comes out o f these gates, we have a better chance of survival if we work together... If we stay together, we survive. "

It is CRITICAL that you re-read Wild at Heart in the two weeks leading up to the retreat to prepare your heart.

Please pray daily as John and the team prepare for what we most deeply hope will be one of the most significant weekends in your journey with God.

For the Kingdom,

The Boot Camp Team

Message from Pastor Steve

We are anticipating a great Men’s “Boot Camp” March 5-7 at Lake View Camp (Federal Way).  We are at capacity but there may be a cancellation or two so let us know if a friend needs a spot.  Here are a couple things to prepare you for the experience:

CONTENT  We are starting Friday with dinner.  We will be using the Men’s Boot camp recorded live at the Wild at Heart Camp in Colorado Springs.  Sessions are packed with stories, movie clips, journaling, conversation and time alone with God.  Of course hang time at the fire and various recreation opportunities are available as well.

FOOD  Meals include Friday dinner thru Sunday.

BRING  Bible, Journal, Wild at Heart Field Manual (available at the any Christian Bookstore or Amazon), writing utensil, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, pillow and preferred snacks (general snacks provided), appropriate clothing (warm, sports and bathing suit for the Polar Bear Contest), flashlight, Frisbee (for Frisbee golf), Basketball, football and board games.

PREPARE

1.  I highly recommend reading “Wild at Heart” by John Eldridge to get mentally prepared.

2.  Read the Book of John to get spiritually prepared and watch Gladiator or Braveheart to get your     courage flowing.

3.  Read the attached letter from John Eldridge, your video host.

4.  Prepare to come without your blackberry. Clear your schedule, change your phone greeting or   forward your calls so you’re free.  This is a time of fun, focus and interaction with God, guys and self.

5.  Prepare for a non-churchy event. Not a lot of singing, but man-friendly movie clips, and an occasional cigar for some.

This Boot Camp has a different focus than some men’s camps -- This one is about your soul, your manhood and your future.

I’m excited to have the guys from “New Life Church” Band of Brothers facilitate this event.  They have been to Wild at Heart Boot camp 4 times.

If you want to carpool with guys, contact John Partsch jspartsch@msn.com

Gearing up for a great weekend,

Pastor Steve
