OUR CODE
Rooted in our mission to connect people to the realness of God, our CODE is the cultural undercurrent that fuels all that we do, both as a church and as individuals within it.
WE’RE A
WELL-WATERED GARDEN
A
rainforest is beautiful, fully maintained by God, untouched by man. A city, oversaturated with buildings
and people, is all built by man. We strive to be a garden, a beautiful display of God’s
life-giving power, combined with our willingness to steward it.
ENVIRONMENT IS
EVERYTHING
We strive to create an atmosphere that lifts – one of encouragement, honor and
love.
LITTLE THINGS ARE A BIG DEAL
From our parking lot to the platform, everything we do exists to authentically represent the amazing God that we serve
WE'RE A PLACE FOR EVERY GENERATION
Always striving to embody Malachi 4:6 – that the hearts of the fathers would turn toward the sons, and the hearts of sons toward their fathers. We honor those who have gone before us, and we’re excited about raising up the next generation as we look to the future.
WE HAVE A GENEROUS SPIRIT THROUGH AND THROUGH
Generosity begins with our spirit and works itself all the way out into our resource, our time and our talents. We understand that anything we give is in response to the one who first gave to us!
WE GO BEYOND OURSELVES
Constantly seeking to add value to our local community, other churches, our region and the world. We have a strong orthodoxy which fuels our orthopraxis, because how we live matters.
WE’RE NOT THE ONLY ONES HERE
We understand that what we’re a part of is so much bigger than the part we play. We love our church, and we hold close the understanding that it’s a small part in the greater story of God for Covington and beyond.
THERE’S ALWAYS MORE ROOM
We’re
constantly creating space and making room to see people from every corner of
our community connect to the realness of God.
IT'S NOT ABOUT ME
Our church exists for those in and beyond it. Each of us operates with an understanding, that what we're a part of is bigger than the part we play. We just get to help move the mission to connect people to the realness of God forward.
GOD’S NOT DONE
We’re people who believe that God isn’t done – he’s just getting started. While we’re grateful for our legacy, it’s only a seed for what’s still ahead of us. We are privileged to be a part of what He’s building – and not even hell can prevail against it.
OUR BELIEFS
Please note that this is just a glimpse into the depth of our beliefs - we encourage all to attend GROWTH TRACK to dive deeper into who we are. In this class we create space for dialog and questions.
We are a non-denominational church, connected globally through Hillsong Network,
and locally through the Maple Valley Ministerial Association.
We believe that a global identity along with local relationships within
our community is vital for the long-term health of our church. If you have any questions about our beliefs or church affiliations, please email taylor@reallifechurch.com.
THE KINGDOM
This is the good news about Jesus - that God and his reality is not something stuck in heaven, but here today. We believe that the purpose of
proclaiming the Gospel is to bring the reality of God's kingdom here,
now.
THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
The bi-product of truly connecting with God is the fruit of the spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control. Beliefs are important - but we're missing it if we are full of the correct beliefs, but without the fruit.
GOD
We believe in the sovereignty of the one God, eternally existing in the triune Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
SCRIPTURE
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their
original writing are inspired by God and accept them as the final
authority for faith and life. We believe that in the Scriptures of the
Old and New Testaments, God has revealed Himself and given us an
authoritative disclosure of His character and will.
PEOPLE
We believe that mankind was created in the image and likeness of God,
but through Adam's sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature and
became alienated from God; and that man lives in total depravity and is
utterly incapable of redeeming himself.
JESUS CHRIST
We believe that Jesus Christ, the everlasting Son of God, became man
without ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit, and
born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal the Father and
redeem mankind. We believe that Jesus accomplished our redemption
through His vicarious, substitutionary and sacrificial death on the
cross as a representative; and that our peace with God is made sure by
His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. We believe that Jesus
Christ ascended into Heaven, was seated on the right hand of Majesty
where He continues serving humanity as our High Priest, Intercessor, and
Advocate with the Father.
HOPE
We believe that because of the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus
Christ, God freely forgives those who are brought to repentance and
faith in His Son. We believe that all who are justified by the grace of
God, through faith in Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and
thereby become children of God. This is Salvation.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of
sin, righteousness and of judgment and that He is the supernatural agent
in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ. We
believe in (a) the baptism of the Holy Spirit, by which believers are
empowered and equipped for service (b) the gifts of and fellowship with
the Holy Spirit. We believe that the gifts of the Holy
Spirit are available today, and that they exist to benefit the church
and to help strengthen the believer (1 Cor 12:7; 14:3-5), though it is
not something we emphasize in our weekly gatherings. If there's a goal,
it's the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5).
THE CHURCH
We believe the one true and global Church consists of those who have
been redeemed by Jesus Christ and regenerated by the Holy Spirit; that
the local church should be the expression of the one true and universal
Church; that Christ appointed the ministries of the Apostle, Prophet,
Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher, for the perfecting of the saints, for
the work of the ministry. We believe in the ultimate triumph of the
Church through the power of the Holy Spirit under the government of King
Jesus.
THE HILLSONG NETWORK
RLC is a non-denominational Christian church. Though we are not officially linked to a denomination, we're well-connected and accountable locally to the churches and pastors in our community. Beyond our local connection, however, we value having a broader sense of connection, resource and accountability.
We're a part of the Hillsong Network. The Hillsong Network is not a denomination - rather a network of churches who have a similar identity and cause. Essentially, we're attached to a global identity, something bigger than ourselves.
